ILTEC: website rebuilt in 3 weeks with AI search optimization + AI agent

ILTEC is the leading office technology provider in the Biella area, with 40+ years of experience and 800+ active clients. Their legacy site was invisible to LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity ignored the domain on industry queries). Post-sale support was a drain: clients calling about consumables, configurations, and commercial queries — constantly interrupting the tech and sales team.

Context

ILTEC is a Biella-based B2B office technology company with over 40 years of history and a base of 800+ active clients. Their business model is a sector classic: selling and maintaining printers, copiers, and professional print systems, backed by ongoing technical support.

ILTEC’s value rests on two assets:

  • Post-sale service quality — technical support is the real differentiator in a market where the hardware is commodity.
  • Local reputation — word of mouth in the Biella area is the primary source of new enterprise clients.

The real problem

Two converging problems were slowing growth.

1. A site invisible to the new search landscape

The legacy site was classic SEO-optimized: built for Google in 2015, invisible to the LLMs of 2026. When a B2B buyer asks ChatGPT “who are the best office technology suppliers in the Biella area”, ChatGPT wasn’t surfacing ILTEC in the top 3 mentions — because:

  • No structured data (schema.org).
  • Non-semantic HTML, content buried in generic divs.
  • No thematic FAQs for LLMs to consume.
  • A long lead form with a sub-1% conversion rate.

For a B2B with strong local authority but weak AI indexing, 60% of B2B buyers using ChatGPT/Claude to shortlist vendors simply weren’t finding ILTEC.

2. Post-sale support was eating the team’s time

Every client with an installed machine called ILTEC about:

  • Consumables (cartridges, toner, maintenance kits).
  • Configurations (drivers, network, scan-to-email).
  • Commercial queries (upgrades, accessories, maintenance contracts).
  • Fault reporting.

All via phone. The sales and technical team was spending hours each day on routine requests that could be handled independently — leaving less time for complex cases and new business.

The solution: two parallel interventions

Intervention 1: high-converting + AI-ready website rebuild

In 3 weeks, Soraia rebuilt the site from scratch on Astro + Cloudflare Pages.

On the lead generation side:

  • Multistep form with tracked micro-conversions.
  • Structured data on products, services, and contact information.
  • Social proof in key positions (client logos, years in business, installed base size).
  • Lighthouse performance 95+ on mobile.

On the AI search optimization (GEO) side:

  • Full schema.org markup (Organization, Service, LocalBusiness, FAQPage).
  • Rigorous semantic HTML (<article>, <section>, <aside>, hierarchical h1–h6).
  • Thematic FAQs written in question-and-answer format, optimized to be cited by LLMs.
  • Service content built to be consumable: every service has a self-contained descriptive block that an LLM can extract as a citation.

Intervention 2: QR code + AI agent on every installed machine

Every machine in the installed base (and all new deliveries) now has a dedicated QR code physically applied. When a client scans it:

  • A chat opens with a custom AI agent that knows the specific machine model, the client’s history, compatible consumables, and active contracts.
  • The agent autonomously handles technical requests (“how do I set up scan-to-email”), commercial requests (“I’d like to order 2 original toner cartridges”), and informational queries (“when does my maintenance contract expire”).
  • Only complex cases (hardware faults, disputes, high-value upgrades) are escalated to a human consultant — with all the context already gathered.

The results

  • Site live in 3 weeks from scratch, high-converting + AI-ready.
  • Conversion rate tripled on the lead form vs. the previous site.
  • Visibility on ChatGPT and Perplexity for sector searches in the Biella area within months of launch.
  • AI agent live across the installed machine base, autonomously routing routine requests.
  • The sales team frees up time for new business; technical support focuses on complex cases.

Why ILTEC works

Two converging dynamics.

On the site side, ILTEC had everything it needed to be visible (40+ years of history, local authority, enterprise clients) — but the site wasn’t communicating any of it, to humans or to LLMs. A well-executed re-architecture unlocks assets that were already there.

On the AI agent side, the value isn’t “automating support” in the abstract — it’s freeing the team from recurring routine requests so they can focus on high-margin activity (selling new machines, maintenance contracts, consultancy). The AI agent acts as an intelligent gatekeeper, not a replacement for the human consultant.

Together, the two interventions attack two different bottlenecks in the same business: top of funnel (being found) and bottom of funnel (serving existing clients without saturating the team). The pattern is replicable across any Italian B2B SME with strong reputational assets and an extensive installed base.
